Spring into Eating Right
March is National Nutrition Month – a great reminder for us all to think about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.
We know good nutrition is important, no matter what your age. Below are ten healthy eating tips to help you “spring” into eating right!
1. Cook at home. This gives you more control of what is in your food and helps you avoid processed foods.
2. Energize with whole grains.
3. Stay well hydrated. Hydration promotes good digestion.
4. Eat more fruits and vegetables, and make sure to eat a rainbow of them!
5. Choose healthy snacks such as cheese, yogurt, or fresh fruit.
6. Pick foods with protein and fiber.
7. Establish regular meal times.
8. Try healthy substitutions when cooking, such as baking instead of frying.
9. Reduce your salt intake.
10. Don’t be afraid of fat! Use healthier alternatives such as olive oil when possible.
