Masonicare at Ashlar Village Memory Care Earns Purple Flag Accreditation

Wallingford, CT (February 23, 2021) – Masonicare at Ashlar Village’s Memory Care staff members successfully completed the Purple Flag for Dementia Care program and were presented with their Purple Flag on Tuesday, February 23rd by members of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA).  

Onsite for the presentation were Christopher Carter, President, CALA, Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE); Betty Brennan, RN, Principal, Astrum Care LLC (Purple Flag Governance Committee Chair and CALA Board Member); George Prouty, Solutions for Senior Living Communities, (CALA Board Secretary); Angela Christie, Director of Operations and Residential Healthcare at Ashlar Village; Jon-Paul Venoit, President and CEO of Masonicare; and members of Masonicare at Ashlar Village’s memory care team.

Angela is a certified Alzheimer’s Disease Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) on behalf of Ashlar Village. She led the application process and training for the Ashlar Village community including an educational lunch & learn series, culminating in 4 hours of training beyond the required 8 hours annually. As part of the application process, the team at Masonicare implemented many environmental updates at Ashlar Village.

“We are extraordinarily proud to be the second facility in the state to have completed and earned the Purple Flag for Dementia Care, stated Christie. “We plan to start the application process with our Masonicare at Mystic Memory Care program next.”

Purple Flag for Dementia Care is an accreditation program developed to enhance the quality of services provided to individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias in Assisted Living communities, nursing facilities and other care settings. The Masonicare Memory Care team is proud to be the second facility in the state to have completed this program.
