Live-In Home Care vs. 24/7 Home Care: What’s the Difference?

The sheer number of care options for older adults can feel overwhelming — particularly for seniors who need round-the-clock care. Two choices for this type of care are 24/7 in-home care and live-in care. 

While similar sounding, these are two are different models of care. “The key distinction between 24/7 care and live-in care is that 24/7 care speaks to availability,” notes Ann Collette, chief strategy and marketing officer of Masonicare, which provides residential, health and ancillary care to older adults. The structure provides more hours of care, she explains, but doesn’t “necessarily affect the intensity of services.”
