“KUDOS” means praise.  Job well done! It comes from the Greek word for “honor” or “glory.” We are happy to share here some of the KUDOS our employees have received for their outstanding work.​​


From the husband of a patient in 4 Sturges:

              "I am writing to complement and recognize your staff for exemplary care and compassion.  As a retired executive of a major corporation, I am bottom line oriented. The bottom line of my wife's stay is that your staff restored her to some normalcy and enabled her to return to her assisted living community, where she is doing well.  The care and acumen exhibited by the following staff members deserve my personal thanks and they have earned my lifetime gratitude – Dr. Genevieve Henry, Dell Jones, the nursing staff, especially Denise and Shelley.  Although I singled out the above staff members, everyone could not have been more gracious and caring.  Thanks for leading a very well-run hospital."

From the son of a short-term rehab patient at MHC:

             "My father stayed for 2 weeks of rehab.  In the past 5 years, he has been at numerous facilities in the area.  Every time he came home, the feeling was always that he was not 100% and would have to go back at some point.  I have to state that since he came home from Masonicare that feeling is gone. He has not looked or acted this well in close to 5 years. Throughout his stay at Masonicare, he received top of the line treatment and rehab.  I am grateful and astonished by the care he received from the entire staff on 4 Wooster.  He could be difficult on the night shifts as he was very demanding (and always has been.)  The nurses and aides on 4 Wooster on the overnight shifts are second to nobody. They were more than patient in caring to his needs and I am very grateful for this. I can honestly state that I will never place him in the care of anybody except Masonicare."

             "My mother started many years ago at the Johnson Apartments …  After several years she came to Ramage 3 with dementia.  My note is simply to tell you how much I appreciated all the care she received there.  The staff on that unit was wonderful and, frankly, I learned a lot about the disease and how to cope with difficult situations (and how much patience and understanding is required by staff.)  I live over 3 hours away and needed to rely on the Ramage 3 staff to keep me up to date.  One individual, Scott, went above and beyond to communicate with me whether I was there or had to call from a distance.  He was terrific … and was extremely compassionate and caring.  A very large Thank You to Ramage 3."

Family member from Wallingford, CT:
                “My mother spent her final three months at Masonicare Health Center, and also received services from Masonicare Hospice. It was wonderful that she did not have to go someplace else for hospice care – it came right to her. I think of how kind all the Healthcare Center and Hospice staff were to her -- the doctors, the nurses, and the CNAs. I would go to visit my mom and notice that she’d had a manicure, or that someone had done her hair. I could not be more thankful. I support The Masonic Charity Foundation because Masonicare just does it right!”

As my mom has needed more and more assistance, all of the nurses and aides have risen to the occasion. They are meticulous about the care of her room and clothes; her bathing; her choice of outfits; and checking to see if she is snug in bed three times per night. The beautician, the activities staff, and the large kitchen staff all work together to promote the residents’ well-being. I cannot say enough… Pond Ridge is like a beautiful hotel with all the amenities -- and everybody knows your name!”

             “If there is an individual that exemplified the mission of a hospice program that exceptional person is Noah White, R.N.  Our concerns as a family were that the most subtle signs of decline would not be noticed soon enough to provide comfort and relief… Noah understood our mother’s medical problems, more importantly he made a point of understanding our mother as person…  Noah made it possible for our mother to continue her journey in comfort and peace… We were prepared as much as possible … as a family, we fondly refer to Noah as ‘Noah, our hospice coach.’”

             “Dear Pat and Hospice Team – Through your help and support we were able to keep my mom home and make her comfortable during her last days.  You truly were our guardian angels.”


            “Kim, Fran, Jean & Laura – Thank you for all the loving care you have shown our parents the last 2 – 2 1/2 years. Not only did each of you have a special way of helping mom and dad, you all were there by our sides as well.  I have heard how wonderful ‘hospice’ caregivers are, but none as wonderful as the Wallingford Masonicare Hospice.  You are eternally in our hearts.”

             “My father was a bigger than life person – a naval pilot, master salesman, athlete who competed in the Senior Olympics and worked well into his 80s and still had 20/20 vision and a perfect driving record.  He counted Ted Williams, John Glenn and Harry Connick, Jr. among his friends and acquaintances.  I wish to recognize the wonderful hospice team who worked with him, especially his nurse Julie, social worker Brian, and Chaplain Bob who kept him comfortable and made it possible for him to die at home as was his wish.”
