Tara Auth, PA-C


Long-Term Care, Masonicare Health Center


Mrs. Auth has been a physician assistant at Masonicare since May 2013. She received her MS in Physician Assistant Studies at Mercy College and has earned NCCPA: Physician Assistant National Certification and ACLS Certification.


Farzana Begum, MD

Acute Geriatric Psych Unit Psychiatrist, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Begum attended Dhaka Medical College in India for her medical degree and also did internships in Internal Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynecology. She then came to Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, New York and performed a residency in Psychiatry. Dr. Begum is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry & Geriatric Psychiatry.


Alla Bernshteyn, MD, FACP


Primary Care Physician, Medical Office Building


Dr. Alla Bernshteyn has been a physician with Masonicare Primary Care Physicians since November 2001. She received her medical degree from Tashkent State Medical Institute in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (formerly the U.S.S.R.) in 1991. Board-certified in Internal Medicine as well as Geriatrics, she completed her Internship and Residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington and her Geriatric Fellowship at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York.


Mary E. Cash, PA-C


Acute Geriatric Psych Unit,  Long-Term Care


Ms. Cash treats patients and provides medical evaluations for adult patients admitted to Masonicare Health Center’s acute psychiatric hospital unit. She received a BS degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating with distinction, and attended Bayley Seton Hospital in Staten Island, New York, where she obtained her PA designation. Ms. Cash has authored and co-written several articles and medical abstracts on a variety of healthcare topics.


Robert W. Elwell Jr., MD


Primary Care Physician, Medical Office Building


Dr. Robert Elwell was well-known in the area prior to joining Masonicare in 2007, having been in private practice in Southington for 25 years. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia, completed his internship in Family Practice at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, and his residency in Family Practice at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Elwell has board certification in Family Practice.


Yvette Fernandez, MD

Medical Director, Masonicare at Newtown


Since, 2010, Dr. Fernandez has been the Medical Director for Masonicare at Newtown. She attended Binghamton University for her Bachelor of Science and earned a medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Fernandez then went to Montefiore Medical Center for her Internal Medicine Internship & Residency. After that, she did a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Bronx, New York. Dr. Fernandez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.


Mark Gregorio, APRN


Clinician, Masonicare Health Center


Mr. Gregorio has been a long-term care clinician at Masonicare since 2012. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Connecticut State University and then a Masters in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) from Quinnipiac University.


Alison Grover, MD

Staff Physician/Rehabilitation, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Grover earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She then went on to a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.


Genevieve Henry, MD


Associate Director of Psychiatric Consult Services, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Henry earned her Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She then came to Connecticut for an internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry there as well. Dr. Henry is board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology.



Andrea Joseph, LCSW


Outpatient Behavioral Health, Medical Office Building


Ms. Joseph has been at Masonicare since 2011 working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received both her BS and Masters of Social Work from the University of Connecticut. Ms. Joseph holds a certificate from the National Association of Social Workers.


Carolyn Kolb, PA

Dr. Kolb received her Master's Degree at Quinnipiac University. She is NCCPA and ACLS certified.


Richard Kull, MD


Outpatient Behavioral Health, Medical Office Building


Dr. Kull has been a psychiatrist here at Masonicare since 2010. He earned his medical degree from Duke University, and went on to do his psychiatry internship and residency at Mass General Hospital in Boston. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.


Gail Labadia, MD


Lead Physician, Rehabilitation Services


Since 2007, Dr. Labadia has been providing medical care to patients receiving physical rehabilitation services at Masonicare Health Center. She also serves as Associate Medical Director for the Wallingford branch office of Masonicare Home Health & Hospice. Dr. Labadia received her medical degree at New York University and completed her Geriatric Fellowship at Yale University. She was also a Scholar in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Clinical Scholars Program while at Yale.​


Bonnie Piascyk, APRN

Outpatient Behavioral Health and Consultive Services, Masonicare Health Center


Ms. Piascyk has been at Masonicare since 1994. She went to Eastern Connecticut State University for her BA in Psychology and then to Yale University where she earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing (Adult Psychiatry) Chronic-Care Concentration. She is board certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatry and Mental Health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.


Gina Reiners, APRN


Outpatient Behavioral Health, Medical Office Building


​Ms. Reiners has been a clinician at Masonicare since 2011. She studied 

Psychology at Southern Connecticut State University earning a Bachelor of Arts. She then went to New York University for her Master in Psychology and St. Joseph College for a Master of Science in Nursing. Ms. Reiners earned her PhD from Capella University.


Yuliya Riat, MD



Ashlar Village, Medical Office Building, and Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Riat is a Geriatrician in multiple areas at Masonicare. Originally from Kazakhstan, she earned her medical degree and performed an Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Karaganda State Medical University. She then did a residency in Internal Medicine at St. Raphael Hospital/Yale University and a Geriatric Fellowship at Yale University.


Anace Said, MD


Internal Medicine, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Said has been a long-term care physician at Masonicare since 2008. Originally from Iraq, he earned his medical degree at Baghdad School of Medicine. Dr. Said then did his Internal Medicine Internship and residency at North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills in New York. He is certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).


Javier Salabarria, MD


Director of Behavioral Health, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Salabarria attended Oberlin College for his BA and then received his medical degree at New York University. He went on to do an Internal Medicine internship at Cambridge Hospital, an Adult Psychiatry Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital, and a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry ay Yale University/West Haven Veterans Administration. Dr. Salabarria is certified in Psychiatry and Geriatrics by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.


Ronald J. Schwartz, MD, FACP


Medical Director at Masonicare Health Center and Hospice Services, Primary Care Physician


Board-certified in Internal and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Schwartz began his career with Masonicare in 1995, when he joined the medical staff as a staff physician. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1988 at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York in affiliation with the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Schwartz completed a chief residency year in 1989 at the same institution prior to pursuing a Geriatric Fellowship at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center/Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, which he completed in 1991.


Zeba T. Syed, MD


Staff Physician, Masonicare Health Center

As part of the on-staff interdisciplinary team, Dr. Syed provides comprehensive care for adult patients in the state-of-the-art Acute Care Hospital Unit and in the Rehabilitation Department at Masonicare Health Center. Dr. Syed received her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College, India, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore of New Rochelle Hospital in New Rochelle, New York.

Angela Vilsaint, APRN

Ms. Vilsaint works in collaboration with physiciansand the nursing team to provide care for long-term and rehabilitation residents. She received her BSN from Molloy College in Long Island, NY and her MSN/FNP degree from Sacred Heart University.


Nailia Vodovskaia, MD

Staff Physician, Masonicare Health Center


Dr. Vodovskaia completed her medical residency through Atlanticare Regional Medical Center and a neurology residency and geriatric fellowship at UConn. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Neurology.


Franklin J. Wendt, Jr., APRN

Clinician, Masonicare Health Center


As a licensed practitioner, Mr. Wendt works in collaboration with our physicians in both acute care and long term care units. He has been with Masonicare since 2008. Mr. Wendt received an MSN from Yale University and has had AANC/APRN certification since 2006. Mr. Wendt has been a clinical preceptor at Yale School of Nursing and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University.


Jennifer Young, PA-C


Clinician, Masonicare Health Center


Ms. Young works as a night clinician. She received a BS from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s in Science from Pace University in New York. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.​
