The CARES Act: A New Incentive to Support Masonicare

Are you looking for a way to support Masonicare during these unprecedented times? Consider making a gift to the Masonicare Annual Appeal of The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, Masonicare’s philanthropic affiliate. Through the generosity of donors like you, The Foundation is able to help Masonicare provide a host of life-enhancing programs and services to residents and patients in financial need.

The new Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security or CARES Act, passed in March 2020, includes new tax benefits to promote gifts to your favorite charities, like Masonicare. These new tax benefits are available for all donors:

  • If you do not itemize on your tax return, then up to $300 (single) or $600 (married couple) of your cash gift to the Masonicare Annual Appeal in 2020 will qualify for the new universal charitable deduction. This universal deduction is available for gifts made on or before December 31, 2020.
  • If you do itemize on your tax return, then cash gifts made on or before December 31, 2020 will qualify for a charitable deduction limit equal to 100% of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).

These limited-time tax benefits expire in 2021, so consider maximizing your giving to the 2020 Masonicare Annual Appeal!
