Wallingford, CT (May 24, 2016)…Masonicare Home Health & Hospice recently honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughout Connecticut.
Karen Serafino, a resident of Wallingford, received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The D.O.V.E. award is given yearly to one volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care.
Jolan Szollosi, volunteer coordinator for the Wallingford hospice team, praised Karen for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program.
"Karen has gone above and beyond in what she has given our program this year. Not only does she volunteer in our office weekly, she also volunteers with our patients. It is the rare volunteer who does both. She is very caring and creative in her patient visits, often bringing little projects for her patients who are able to participate. In the office, she can be given any project and is very organized and dependable. She has been a tremendous asset to our program in so many ways!" Szollosi explains.
