East Lyme, CT (May 17, 2016)...Isabelle Smith of Colchester Receives D.O.V.E. Award
In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice recently honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughout Connecticut.
Mrs. Isabelle Smith, a resident of Colchester, received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The East Lyme office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to one volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care.
Faith Grist and Wendy Worley, volunteer coordinators for the Eastern hospice team, praised Mrs. Smith for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program.
"Isabelle has been a volunteer since February, 2010. She is dependable, very caring, and completely non-judgmental. She is very good at meeting patients where they are at and uses her great sense of humor to bring joy or open up communication. She's a wonderful support to patients' family members when she encounters them in her visits. She is always willing to step in for vigil visits – going above and beyond to fit them in around her busy home and work life whenever possible. She's also willing to help the program in other ways; such as helping with our annual memorial service, offering a poem or an article that might be helpful or interesting, and offering good insights and feedback during in-service programs. Whenever Isabelle volunteers, she gives 110%. She is a wonderful part of our volunteer team, and we are so grateful to have her, they explained."
