             Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice and Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center are co-sponsoring an informative event entitled "Walking the Journey with You."  The event, which is open to healthcare professionals and the community, will be held on Thursday, November 5, from 10 am to 3 pm in the St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center Rotunda, 114 Woodland Street in Hartford.  The event is being held during National Hospice and Palliative Care Month to highlight and celebrate the important services and compassionate care hospice provides to patients and their families.

            Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk with hospice nurses, social workers and hospice volunteers, enjoy live music, and meet some of the hospice therapy pets.  The event will also feature complimentary hand massages, information tables, and raffle prizes

     11:15am-12:30pm: Demystifying the Funeral Experience: The role of the funeral in the grieving process

Designed to familiarize hospice professionals and volunteers with funeral customs, options, procedures and regulations, and provide a better understanding of the emotional and spiritual benefits of funerals. 2 CEU's available.                    

         1:00-3:00pm: No Unwounded Soldiers Video Screening and Panel Discussion

Taping of rehearsal/therapy sessions at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System hospital in West Haven during a drama therapy group led by drama therapist Mary Lou Lauricella. The performance includes discussion, debate, and consensus based on personal and individual experiences. There will be a panel of veterans who will provide reflections to the film incorporating their own experiences.
