October 14, 2015- Masonicare is pleased to announce that Sylvia van Heerden, RN, BCur, has joined the Wallingford-based organization as Director of Hospice and Palliative Care for Masonicare Home Health & Hospice. In this role, Ms. van Heerden is responsible for the statewide hospice program including development, management, and adherence to regulatory licensure and national standards, and directs the overall coordination of hospice and related services throughout the continuum of care.
Ms. van Heerden received a Baccalaureus Degree from the University of Johannesburg and did graduate study at the University of Pretoria in Nursing Administration and Education. Prior to joining Masonicare, she was the Director of Hospice and Chief Quality Officer at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Sylvia is also a certified midwife.
In making the announcement, Jennifer Rich, Associate Executive Director of Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, said: "Hospice is a very important part of our home healthcare practice. We are very fortunate to have someone with Sylvia's extensive experience in the field of hospice lead our team."
