Wallingford, CT, March 28, 2012………………In recognition of the Fifth Annual National Healthcare Decisions Day on April 16, designed to “inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning,” Masonicare of Wallingford is sponsoring a free educational program for the community. The program, which will feature a panel of experts in the healthcare and legal fields, will discuss the importance of preparing advance directives, such as a living will, that outline what your healthcare choices would be if you were unable to speak for yourself in a medical emergency.
Not only is it very important that your medical providers have this information, it’s essential that your loved ones are aware of your healthcare wishes as well. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers from the experts on the panel.
The program will be held in the Knapp Auditorium at Masonicare at Ashlar Village, 74 Cheshire Road, Wallingford, on Friday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Susan F. Adams, RN, BSN, PhD, Regional Vice President & Administrator for Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, will serve as moderator.
The panel will include:
Suzanne Nolan, Director of Pastoral Care – St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center
Dr. Kris Kuhn, a geriatrician with Sound Seniors Geriatrics based in Mystic and Medical Director, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice – Eastern Hospice
Susan Nobleman, Esq., Elder Law Attorney – Gesmonde, Pietrosimone & Sgrignari LLC
