Hospice Volunteer Sue Laughlin of Brookfield
Receives D.O.V.E. Award
Newtown, CT, April 16, 2013…….In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice honored hundreds of community volunteers throughout the state who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices in Connecticut.
Staff and volunteers of the Brookfield at Newtown office gathered April 4th to celebrate their hospice volunteers, recognize the 986 volunteer hours contributed during the past year, and thank them for the care and dedication they bring to patients and the hospice team.
Ms. Sue Laughlin, a resident of Brookfield, received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to one volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care. Holly Beck, volunteer coordinator for the Brookfield at Newtown hospice team, praised Ms. Laughlin for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program.
“Sue has volunteered more than 100 hours during the past year, assisting with special events and offering innovative ideas and professional recommendations. She supports our hospice staff with the annual memorial service, aids the business support specialists with the organization of files and forms, and assists me throughout the year in any way she can. Sue is a true asset to our hospice team and we sincerely thank her for her strong support of our hospice program,” Ms. Beck said.
