Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice and Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center Sponsoring Hospice Information Program November 7

Hartford, CT, October 10, 2012………….Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice and Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center are co-sponsoring an informative event entitled “Best Care for a Lifetime – Hospice and Palliative Care: Walking the Journey with You.”  The event, which is open to healthcare professionals and the community, will be held on Wednesday, November 7, from 10 am to 2 pm in the St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center Rotunda, 114 Woodland Street in Hartford.  The event is being held during National Hospice and Palliative Care Month to highlight and celebrate the important services and compassionate care hospice provides to patients and families everywhere.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk with hospice nurses, social workers and hospice volunteers, enjoy live music, and meet some of the hospice therapy pets.  The event will also feature complimentary hand massages, samples of art work done by or with hospice patients, and an educational poster session on “Dementia and Hospice Care.” 

In addition, the program will feature three free educational seminars in the adjacent Chawla Auditorium.  If you would like to attend any or all of the free seminars listed below, please call 860-727-5430 to confirm your attendance at one or all of the seminars:

10 am:  The Two Phases of Hospice: How to Know When a Hospice Referral is Appropriate by Roy Zagieboylo, MD, St. Francis medical staff and Medical Director, Masonicare Partners.
                       

12 noon:  Grief During the Holidays – Hospice Bereavement and Counseling Team     

 2 pm:   Artificial Nutrition and Hydration at the End of Life – a 2-hour DVD presentation of The Hospice Foundation forAmerica (CEUs are available, if desired, for healthcare professionals who attend this presentation).
