East Hartford, CT, June 20, 2013…….In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Masonicare honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughout Connecticut.
Staff and volunteers of the East Hartford office of Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice gathered recently to celebrate their hospice volunteers and thank them for the care and dedication they bring to patients and the hospice team. Ms. Nancy Madar, a resident of Manchester, received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to a volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care. John Roush, volunteer coordinator for the East Hartford office, praised Ms. Madar and her dog, Archie, for their dedication and commitment to Masonicare’s Creature Comforts program.
“Nancy and Archie have been volunteers with our Creature Comforts program for more than two years now and have given more than 300 hours to our hospice patients and families. Nancy is extremely devoted to our hospice team and always goes above and beyond to support and promote our work and the Creature Comforts program. She and Archie visit multiple patients in multiple locations, even traveling outside of their normal visiting area for special cases. We are very grateful to Nancy and Archie and pleased to present them with this well-deserved D.O.V.E. award.”
