Hospice Volunteer Lorraine Duffy of Ridgefield

Receives D.O.V.E. Award

Wallingford, CT, May 13, 2014…….In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year.  Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughout Connecticut.

Staff and volunteers of the Norwalk office gathered on April 22 to celebrate their hospice volunteers and thank them for the care and dedication they bring to patients and the hospice team.   The event was generously hosted by Maplewood at Darien.

Lorraine Duffy of Ridgefield received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award.  The office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to one volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care.

Paula Bruns, volunteer coordinator for the Norwalk hospice team and also a Ridgefield resident, praised Lorraine for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program. “Lorraine is receiving this award because of the amazing work she has done on behalf of our hospice patients and families.  In a world where everyone is so busy and over scheduled, Lorraine graciously gives her time to connect with people at their end of life in a way that is both life affirming and loving.  We are so grateful that she is part of our hospice team.”

Also honored during the event was Debbie Feeley, who received the Rose Award for her dedication and service as a hospice volunteer.  The Rose Award was named in honor of Rose Pepiora and her lifelong legacy of volunteering.  Debbie is a resident of Fairfield.
