Newtown, CT, February 27, 2013…………….The tragedy that occurred in Newtown has left many of us shaken and sad, and empathy and sympathy is deeply felt within our community. Although we may or may not be affected personally, grief can be both personal and communal. For some it is a loss of someone special – a relative, a colleague, a friend, or a child who lived on our street. For others, it may have opened up our own grief over losses we’ve had in our lives. And still for others, it is the loss of a way of life and a feeling of safety.
The Newtown Senior Center and Masonicare Home Health & Hospice have joined together to give our community the opportunity to learn about grief and understand the healing process we go through after suffering a loss. The forum will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lodge Room at Lockwood Lodge at Masonicare at Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road in Newtown. The program will be facilitated by Anne-Marie Davenport. M.Div., a hospice spiritual care and bereavement coordinator for Masonicare. Everyone in the greater community is cordially invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
To register, please call the Newtown Senior Center as soon as possible at 203-270-4310. For directions to Lockwood Lodge at Masonicare at Newtown, visit the Masonicare web site at www.masonicare.org.
