Wallingford,CT, May 9, 2012…… The residents of Masonicare at AshlarVillage are always eager to help those in need whenever the opportunity arises. When they heard about Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis and the important work they do to help victims of domestic violence, they offered their support by responding with their usual giving spirit, participating in several fund-raising drives for the organization throughout the years.
During the month of April, a group of residents, led by sisters Margaret Porter and Barbara Colby, organized a drive and collected nine very large bags filled to the brim with a variety of household and personal care items. The donations will be used by the women and children who temporarily reside in the safe refuge of Chrysalis House.
Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that counsels and supports victims of domestic violence by providing short term emergency shelter, a transitional living program for those needing additional assistance, a weekly support group for women and their children, and advocacy through medical, legal, police or social services systems.
Sharlene B. Kerelejza, MSW, Executive Director of Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis, Inc. said, “We are very grateful for the ongoing support of Ashlar Village. They come through just when our women and children need it the most, every time. They are true partners in ensuring that individuals and families who flee violence will be able to meet their basic needs as they work to rebuild their lives. Thank you.”
