East Hartford,CT, May 2, 2012…….In celebration of National Volunteer Week in April, Masonicare honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughoutConnecticut.
Staff and volunteers of the East Hartfordoffice of Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice gathered recently to celebrate their hospice volunteers and thank them for the care and dedication they bring to patients and the hospice team. Mrs. Terry Akin, a resident of Rocky Hill, received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to a volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care.
John Roush, volunteer coordinator for the East Hartford office, praised Mrs. (Ms) Akin for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program.
“Terry has been such an integral part of our team this year. She not only visits hospice patients and family members grieving the loss of a loved one, she volunteers to assist our administrative staff as well. Terry’s commitment and dedication to our program is exemplary, and she can always be counted upon to help – whenever and wherever she’s needed. It’s an honor and a privilege to present the D.O.V.E. award to Terry.”
