Wallingford,CT, May 15, 2012…….In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice honored hundreds of community volunteers who cumulatively contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the hospice program during the past year. Awards were presented at special recognition events held at several offices throughout Connecticut.
Staff and volunteers of the Wallingford office gathered on April 24 to celebrate their hospice volunteers and thank them for the care and dedication they bring to patients and the hospice team.
Ms. Michaela Hauser-Wagner of Cheshire received the highly regarded Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence (D.O.V.E.) award. The office gives the D.O.V.E. award yearly to one volunteer who exhibits exceptional dedication to the program and exemplifies the true spirit of hospice care.
Jolan Szollosi, volunteer coordinator for the Wallingford hospice team, praised Ms. Hauser-Wagner for her dedication and commitment to the hospice program. “A volunteer for the Wallingford hospice team since 2010, Michaela has been a wonderful asset to our team. Her personal hobby is creating collages, and she has used that talent to create many collages with her patients. She is skilled at gauging their abilities so they can participate to the fullest extent possible. The collages are completely designed by the patients and are a wonderful expression of who they are. Michaela shares her time, energy and creative talents not only with her patients, but she has helped other volunteers learn how to create collages as well. We’re so fortunate to have Michaela as part of our hospice team – she adds to the quality of life of everyone she visits.”
